Full House 19- The secret of fertility

Versão em português

The emphasis of the Word of God for us today is fruitfulness; we believe that there will be no sterile within the winning church. In the dictionary, fruitful it is one that has the ability to generate, or one that can generate much. Let’s learn some basics on fertility.

Do you remember what was the first great obstacle faced by the people of Israel before the promised land? Was the conquest of Jericho city, destroyed by people under Joshua’s command. The text below reports a fact occurred three hundred years after the episode of the conquest, after the city was rebuilt. The new Jericho was well located, but had two serious problems: the water was bad and the land was barren.

So. When yhey returned to Elisha, who was staying in Jericho; he said to them, Didn’t I tell you not to go? The men of the city said to Elisha, “Look, our lord, this town is well situated, as you can see, but the water is bad and the land is unproductive.”

“Bring me a new bowl,” he said, “and put salt in it.” So they brought it to him.

Then he went out to the spring and threw the salt into it, saying, “This is what the Lord says: “I have healed this water. Never again will it cause death or make the land unproductive.” (2 Kings 2.17-21)

By this text we find the causes and consequently, the cure for infertility in spiritual life. The Bible compares us to walled cities (Proverbs 25.28). So we can draw a parallel between Jericho and our lives by addressing causes and solutions for sterility.

It was sterile because was under curse

The first reason why the city was barren was the curse. Joshua had cursed three hundred years before.

At that time Joshua pronounced this solemn oath: “Cursed before the Lord is the man who undertakes to rebuild this city, Jericho: “Ao preço de seu filho mais velho lançará os alicerces da cidade; ao preço de seu filho mais novo porá suas portas!”  (Joshua 6:26)

In Ahab’s time, Hiel of Bethel rebuilt Jericho. He laid its foundations at the cost of his firstborn son Abiram, and he set up its gates at the cost of his youngest son Segub, in accordance with the word of the Lord spoken by Joshua son of Nun. (1 Kings 16:34)

We can not say we’re under a curse, but we can not enjoy the blessing of God. When we are under the blessing, normal is presenting a life of fruitfulness and multiplication.

Many people seek me asking for prayer, but when I ask why they say they just want to be blessed. Blessing for them is subjective and can mean anything good. But the Word of God, we find that God’s blessing is characterized by three aspects: fertility, prosperity and honor.

A. Fertility

The first sign of God’s blessing on a person, a cell or a local church is fertility. From the beginning we can see that God’s blessing involves fertility. For Adam was a matter of generating natural children, for us is a matter of generating spiritual children.

Paul teaches that the first man Adam became a living being, but the second is life-giving spirit. (1 Cor 15:45)

And God blessed them and said to them “Be fruitful and increase in number, fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground” (Gen. 1:28)

Then God blessed Noah and his sons, saying to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the Earth. (Gen 9.1)

And as for Ishmael, I have heard you: I will surely bless him; I will make him fruitful and will greatly increase his numbers. He will be the father of twelve rulers, and I will make him into a great nation. (Genesis 17:20)

May God Almighty bless you and make you fruitful and increase your numbers until you become a community of peoples. (Gen. 28.3)

God cursed those who rebuild Jericho, which was fulfilled in the person of Hiel, three hundred years later (Joshua 6:26; 1 Kings 16:34). I ask: Is it really necessary that we are under God’s blessing to grow? Why? Because without it the whole work of the church is going.

The blessing is manifested in at least three ways and fertility is the first. Jericho could not be fertile because it just was not under the blessing. There are churches that do not grow for the same reason. It is perfectly possible to find a zealous church of believers, but walking out of God’s blessing. If there is no fertility, the blessing of God is absent.

God’s blessing on the man came followed by a command to fertility – “Be fruitful … Multiply yourselves!” (Gen 1:22): the first couple (Gen. 1:28); Noah (Gen. 9.1); Abraham (Genesis 12.2-7); Ishmael (Genesis 17:20), Jacob (Gen. 28.3); the people of Israel (Exodus to Revelation) and the Church of the New Testament, to which the Lord determined the same principle of fertility. Multiplication, therefore, is the mandatory result of God’s blessing, and the attitude of our heart is of the utmost importance for us to be or not protected by it.

Jacob is a good example. He was not someone with commendable quality for the blessing, but yearned for it at any cost and sought, albeit deceiving his father. God did not support this approach, but validated his blessing because the sources of his heart was correct, while Esau, although there is no wrong their behavior records, was considered profane by God because it devalued his blessing. Not always God blesses the one who is “just right” or “nice” and apparently better but he always releases on who Wishes at any price.

Plus, even if you aren’t yet in the standards that your parentes and leaders had planned for you, the blessing of God still in your reach. Want and get it at all costs is the condition to reach it! In our multiplication context, who will have the blessing of God will be the one to feel labor pains in prayer by multiplying its cell; one that put the mark of God above anything natural; who prefer fast to eat, visiting them rest, to sleep them pray, study the Word to stand; one to stand up and lie down with the desire of God burning in his heart for the salvation of souls, because it is God’s will that all men come to the knowledge of truth.

We do not want fruiting by human force. Growth as a result of human effort is sterility. Every effort should be before God – in communion, in prayer and dependence upon Him. As a result, the Lord put the children in our “womb.” In these days when God has poured a multiplication of anointing upon the church, we need to position themselves to be under this blessing. God has in His blessing to those who genuinely desire.

Israel was an ignorant people, limited and no potential for great things as were slaves in Egypt. However, under the direction and the Lord’s blessing, the hebrew founded a tremendous nation and won without the knowledge of the use of weapons, entire warring nations, defeated the enemy and created laws and statutes that serve as the model for almost all people until the present day. They were conquerors for excellence.

The slave mentality of Egypt persists today in natural believers who will tell you: How can you fight if not learned the war tactics? How can write a book or attended college? How can lead many cells if you didn’t do seminary? How can dream of being conqueror and leading a great ministry is not just a smug poor? “After all, of Nazareth can anything good come out? …”

However, the same God who spoke to Israel has spoken that will bless us in these days, exceeding our expectation. And even though in the past we have been unable, untrained or ability, the Lord will give us much more than Egypt has. The tail of His blessing and His anointing, we will do that Egypt can not.

B. Prosperity

Jericho rebuilt was not a prosperous town because they had no agriculture or drinking water. But when God’s blessing comes, we receive the same as Isaac.

Isaac planted crops in that land and the same year reaped a hundredfold, because the Lord blessed him. The man became rich, and his wealth continued to grow until he became very wealthy. He had so many flocks and herds and serventes that the philistines envied him. (Gen 26.12-14)

Prosperity is the second manifestation of the blessing in his Word. The test over shows Isaac collecting a hundredfold and getting rich. This text does not approve the modern theology of prosperity, where prosperity is one that has material possessions in abundance, to waste no purpose. This worldly prosperity is based on the desire of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life.

According to this doctrine, who gets to thrive takes the worldly mentality of how to enjoy life: buying whatever fills his eyes never indulge yourself; seeks to be seen and respected. The underlying message in all this is, “Conquer the glory, power and honor: to reign – you can!” This is the desire of the world is enmity with God and comes from the evil one.

The prosperity of the Lord is to have everthing we need, in abundance, but with purpose originated in the vision and dependence on God and not on worldly consumerism. The worldly strives to be prosperous; but in the Lord’s blessing runs behind us.

Supply is the third sign of blessing. Surely you remember what happened in feeding the multitude by Jesus after blessed, were distributed, supplied the measure of all present and still left over. When the blessing of God is in the church, volunteers contribute cheerfully and there are financial supply. Recognition and honor are also signs of God’s blessing on a leader or on a church.

The way Jesus multiplied the bread was blessing him.

Jesus said to him, “I will go and heal him.”

The centurion replied,  “Lord, I do not desserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be heald.

They had a few small fish as well; he gave thanks for them also and told the disciples to distribute them. The people ate and were satisfied. Afterward the disciples picked up seven  basketfuls of broken pieces  that were left over. (Mc 8.7-8)

Everything is under the blessing multiplies. Must desire the blessing and get it, for he is the Lord’s blessing you have the springs of life.

C. Honor

The third aspect of the blessing is the honor. God said that magnify the name of Abraham. So when we are under the blessing, we can expect to be honored in the place where we are.

I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you, I will make your name great and you will be a blessing. (Gen. 12.2)

Understand that sin brings a curse, and integrity brings blessing. However, Jacob was blessed when not yet had an approved character. This is because in New Testament times, beyond integrity, we need to understand the grace of God. All that is the principle of grace is under the blessing of God.

Have the blessing does not mean we are immune to any kind of fight. We have the blessing in the midst of struggles. The blessing is not related to the lack of fights, because Joseph was blessed even in the midst of their trouble (Genesis 39.5). Isaac was blessed and still suffered from the jealousy of the Philistines.

2. Was located well, but was dead

The first Jericho feature was the absence of blessing. The second had no reality. It was a well located city, but was sterile. A major cause of infertility is the lack of spiritual reality. Many leaders do not succeed because they lack spiritual reality.

A sad thing to have the name of living but is dead.

“To the angel of the church in Sardis Write: These are the words of him who holds the seven spirits of God and the seven stars. I know your deeds; you have a reputation of being alive, but you are dead. (Rev 3.1)

How many brothers, the city was well placed and might have a good appearance. We can be a good-looking people, apparently prosperous and to obtain a privileged position; however, when we do not have the blessing of the Lord, we are nothing.

Despite the good location, Jericho was dead. Many churches are like that: they are in evidence among the others, but are sterile (Rev 3.1). Many cell leaders hold the post, but have no reality of life; They teach love, but are not worshipers; teach depend, but do not depend on and justify still blaming others. Reality is not in charge, but the charge. If the leader does not have enough weight for the salvation of souls, will not be fruitful.

Jericho waters were evil. The waters there were the city sources. In this case the water point to our hearts, simply because of our heart are the issues of our motivations. Proverbs 4:23 says: “Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.” How can we know the sources of our heart? Jesus taught us a simple formula: the words we speak – “because the mouth speaks out of that which fills the heart” (Lk 6:45)

But our sources can also be perceived by the children we generate. If not generate any son or our waters are bad, that our source is dry. In this case we must remember that water also point to the Holy Spirit. Jesus is our wealth, but some rely on cisterns that can hold no water. “My people have committed two sins: They have forsaken me, the spring of living water and have dug their own cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold water.” (Jeremiah 2:13). Who flowing in the Spirit is fruitful and generates sons spontaneously. When the river gushes, people come from afar to drink.

3. The Earth was sterile because of water sources

The problem of sterility were the fountains of waters. God’s Word, the water sources tell us of two things.

A. Heart

First, water sources tell us of our hearts. Proverbs 4:23 tells us that “Above all else, guard your hart, for it is the wellspring of life.” Jacob was still not completely straight and approved, but God blessed him because of his heart. Esau was not rejected because of his sinful behavior, but because of his heart. He simply despised God’s blessing, the birthright, Esau did not value the blessing and therefore lost.

We take for granted when we think the price is too high. We take for granted when we have no desire for blessing. And do not we value when we think that the blessing depends on our merits, ignoring God’s grace.

The spies bad report of the land and therefore did not receive it. Flatten the land is to say that what God calls the blessing is actually a bad thing. God had said that the land flowing with milk and honey, but they came back saying that the earth destroyed its inhabitants (Nm 13:32). God says that your wedding flowing with milk and honey, but you infama saying he destroys you. God says that your job flowing with milk and honey, but you infama saying he destroys you. If we defame our country, our church, our house, we can not hope to receive blessing.

If the issues of life come from the heart, then life will be contaminated if sources are bad. So guard your heart.

B. The spirit of the holy flow

The second sense of water sources certainly refers to the Spirit of the Lord. Jeremiah says that the Lord is the fountain of living waters, and Jesus said that those who believe, from within flowed rivers of living water.

“My people have committed two sins: They have forsaken me, the spring of living water, and have dug their own cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold water.  (Jer 2:13)

Whoever belives in me, as the Scripture has said streams of living water will flow from within him” (John 7:38)

Ezekiel says that through which the river passes the Lord’s life flourishes. In fact the river leads to blessing. Where there is no fertility blessing, prosperity and honor is certainly because the river ceased to flow.

Swarms of living ceratures will live wherever the river flows. There will be large numbers of fish, because this water flows there and makes the salt water fresh; so where the river flows everything will live. (Ez 47.9)

The problem of the city was that their sources were evil. We really need to keep our sources, are those that come from the heart reasons, are those that flow from the fountain of living water. We can not live one day without the flow of the river of God. And if our bad sources such as sea waters Death, when the river of God flowing to us the death of water will be transformed and there will be life in abundance.

4. How to heal the stetility

To cure sterility of the city, Elisha threw salt in the sources of the waters. Our sterility is cured by salt. What does the salt in the Word of God?

A. Salt is our life

Jesus said that we are the salt of the earth. Our conduct and our presence has the power to salting. Salt points to our testimony on the following:

First salt gives flavor to food. The salt curing sterility in that points to our life witness.

Secondly, the salt kills germs. The presence of a victorious believer amazes darkness.

Salt also preserves the food. In other words, it prevents people around to deteriorate morally.

And finally, the salt awakens thirst. The environment where the living believer is is different and people will want to walk with him simply because they are attracted by the taste.

You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? Its no longer god for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men. (Mt 5:13)

We will be fruitful when our life gives flavor to the place where we live, where our lives awaken in others hunger and thirst for Jesus.

However, the salt may become insipid and lose flavor to the extent that there is mixing it. Jesus said, “Remember Lot’s wife” (Luke 17:32). She is an example of someone who was salt, but lost its usefulness. Being salt is when someone wants to know why you are different, you want to prove what you proved – it’s glory; be statue is when no one notices that you are a believer and you realize, praises because you are not face – it is shame.

Many of us are drunk and mixed with the things of the world and so we are not salt and we are not fertile; but we are like statues, mere religious monuments.

Jesus said that there is a way of salt regain taste or be purified: by fire. He said: “Everyone will be salted with fire” (Mark 9:49). When we went through fire, our salinity is restored. It may be the fire of the Spirit, or may be the fire of tribulation. In any case, it will fire debugging our lives.

B. Salt symbol of the lord’s alliance

Season all of your grain offerings with salt. Do not leave the salt of the covenant of your God out of your grain offerings; add salt to all your offerings. (Leviticus 2:13)

Salt is also the sign of God’s alliance with us. God is committed to bless us with the blessing of Abraham. Jesus is blessed; since we were put into His family, we have His blessing. We will not be blessed only if we left God’s standard.

When Israel left Egypt it was Easter, and the Hebrews followed a few steps to escape the plague: they killed the lamb, passed their blood on the door jambs, roasted it and ate it in the house. Just follow some of these steps would not be enough – everyone would have to follow it.

The house points to the Church. In the church, the life groupsl is protection for us, is spiritual covering. Within it are brave, our word has authority; out is the devil’s camp, there he is brave. We have to be radical for the Lord. Being integrated in the church is not something natural; It is to be i the principle of God.

The move of God today is: every believer a minister, each house a church. When we receive Jesus, the Lamb, we say that we submit to His principle; therefore, give his heart means giving our treasure together. Do you want the Lord? Did you give your heart to Him? What about entering the beginning and also deliver to your home to get a life group and also be willing to be used of God, leading a group? Be willing! Do not miss out! Strive today to rule tomorrow! I pray that the alliance salt is upon you. In the name of Jesus.
